Weather

This week's challenge is: weather! Which is timely, since the weather has been freakish this week. After temperatures in the 80s, we're back in the 50s (which is just uncalled for) and there were two days of cloudy, windy, rainy sadness. Yuck.

I was on my way out of the building yesterday after work.

Craft Table Window

I took some time to do a little crafting today, and Clyde joined me:

(That's a practice katana behind him, and Study in Scarlet - the first Sherlock Holmes book - by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to the left.)

I couldn't show the crafting because it's for another swap!

Airport

We're going to the airport tonight to pick up my aunt!

Why am I posting about it in advance? Why are there no photos? Why won't there be any photos?

Well, when I was in high school, I took a gifted after-school class in photography. We were working on examples of line. My dad was driving me around to find interesting buildings that, when photographed from below, made for interesting studies in line and perspective. One such building was a tower behind our shop, which happens to be on the premises of the airport. We were pulled over on the side of the road, and I was adjusting my camera (we used, like, actual cameras, with film and aperture settings and whatnot) and the airport security pulls over next to us and start asking what the hell we think we're doing. See, 9/11 happened during the fall semester of my sophomore year. This photography class was the spring semester of my sophomore year.

So I have this thing about not taking photos in/near/around/of the airport.

I hope you enjoyed the story in lieu of photos this time!

Cinder

This Friday's review book for Review Me Twice is Cinder by Marissa Meyer. Clyde joined me on the porch to read it after work today (despite the pollen):

(Also you can see my car in the far right.)

Now we're going to settle in and watch Hamlet! (The one with David Tennant and Patrick Stewart.)

NaNoThon

I'm participating in Camp NaNoWriMo (where I try to write 50,000 words of a novel in one month, from April 1 to 30)! Today, they held a "NaNoThon" to give everyone an opportunity to boost their word counts. Even though I'm ahead, I wanted to give it a shot to see how well I could do.

I had 21,508 words at the end of yesterday... After today, I have:

30,143!

So it was a quiet day of going to work and a flurry of typing, but Clyde was very helpful when  I got stuck on a plot point!

EMT Station 8

Fiance volunteers as an EMT. He had a shift on Thursday, and we had to swing by the station to pick some things up after he was done.

Fiance is bad at posing

In front of the station
We did not go check out the ambulance because I didn't want to get in the way.

Aquarium: Catering Meeting

Clyde will see a lot more of the Aquarium this summer, because that's where our wedding will be next March! (Plus, we're members, so we can go as often as we want.)

But today, we just had a meeting with the catering manager, so we didn't do all the cool stuff like pet the rays and hang around waiting for the sea turtles to get sociable. I just grabbed two photos of Clyde on the way back to the car:

There's a seal over his shoulder, to the right. Kind of hard to tell.
Their tank is outside. They just came back to it after the winter cleaning.

And the front of the Bay & Ocean Pavilion (the main building).

We'll definitely be back later for more fun!

Also, both of these fit the "something blue" challenge, by coincidence!

The Casual Vacancy

Clyde and I spent some time after work on the porch reading The Casual Vacancy by J K Rowling. (I'm reviewing it on Review Me Twice this Friday!)

And you can see a dogwood in the background... state tree of Virginia! They're all in full bloom, making everyone's eyes itchy and noses runny. But they sure are pretty!

Week 1: Something Blue

On Craftster, there are weekly challenges for photos to get of our LVs. For the first week, we were challenged to find "something blue." Lucky me... the sky yesterday was GORGEOUS.

I was greeted with that sky as I was leaving work. (At 6pm! I'm still not used to this whole "leaving work with the sun still shining" thing.) It was up to 70 degrees yesterday, and today it's supposed to hit 80!

Clyde Meets Gimli

I finally got Gimli to play nicely just long enough to get a photo of him with Clyde.

(His paw is blurry because he was moving it to try to swat at Clyde.) Maybe they'll be friends by the time Clyde goes back home...

Clyde Goes to the Library (Pt. 1)

I work three part-time jobs, two of which are in libraries (two different campuses of the same community college). Today, we went to my weekend job at the Virginia Beach campus:

(Clyde and I will have to work on his balance... he's a bit... top-heavy.)

That's the sign to our current building. We're moving into a brand-new building in August, and Clyde will be here for that, too!

Scrapbook

I picked up a scrapbook for Clyde yesterday! (I haven't made my foray into the world of book-binding yet, so I went store-bought.)

I'm going to do this one strictly chronologically, since the swap is so long... Just so I can work on it as we go, and not try to put everything together at the end. I'll have to do some finagling to make sure I don't have a ton of leftover pages (unlikely) or too much to fit in the remaining pages (more likely).

Pictures to come later, from the exciting adventure of accompanying me to work!

NaPoWriMo

I am participating in NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month), which means I'm writing a poem every day! I'm posting them on my grammar blog, Grammar Amateur all month!

For my day 5 poem (today) I wrote a freestyle poem in rhyming couplets about Clyde! Check it out HERE.

Arrived!

Clyde has arrived! Hooray!!!

Just adorable. There he is with my hello note from phoenixfiredesigns (who sent him to me), the chocolate treats he brought me, his lovely passport, and his LV contract, which I will be sending back to pfd tomorrow on my way to work!

I already tried introducing him to Gimli, who was feeling too playful (and pointy... he's isn't declawed) for that to be a good idea. Maybe later, when Gimli's sleepy and Clyde is at less of a risk of being stuck with claws...
