Back to the Aquarium

We visited the Aquarium again! This time, we met with the wedding photographer, but then we actually visited the Aquarium, with my friend Thomas!

My favorite thing ever: the ray petting tank! You can see both of the main kinds
of rays in the tank: the littler, darker one is a cownose ray, and the larger, pale one
is an Atlantic ray... they like to come up the side of the wall and splash people!

Auuuugh, Clyde is being eaten! Eeeek!

This is part of an exhibit that is a scaled-up model of the marsh!
The grass goes up into the ceiling.

264

This is a shot I've been trying to get almost since Clyde arrived. Interstate 264 only runs from the Virginia Beach Oceanfront to the far side of Portsmouth, so it's very local! And I drive on it at least once a week, but most of the signs are not placed in such a way as to encourage stopping to take a photo safely. But I found this one by the sidewalk on the Oceanfront end!

Also nearby was the sign at the entrance to the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA, formerly CAC - Contemporary Art Center):

And the reason we were at the Oceanfront was to pay the catering deposit for the wedding, which means a visit to the Aquarium! And their new exhibit (and IMAX movie) is all about butterflies...

...so there's a giant one on the side of the building! Cool.

Aquarium: Catering Meeting

Clyde will see a lot more of the Aquarium this summer, because that's where our wedding will be next March! (Plus, we're members, so we can go as often as we want.)

But today, we just had a meeting with the catering manager, so we didn't do all the cool stuff like pet the rays and hang around waiting for the sea turtles to get sociable. I just grabbed two photos of Clyde on the way back to the car:

There's a seal over his shoulder, to the right. Kind of hard to tell.
Their tank is outside. They just came back to it after the winter cleaning.

And the front of the Bay & Ocean Pavilion (the main building).

We'll definitely be back later for more fun!

Also, both of these fit the "something blue" challenge, by coincidence!
